The Balkans trip was completed successfully with the car limping home in a pretty poor state. The rebuild has now started in another blog, so have a look at....www.laviedeuche.weebly.com
My 2cv is a Portuguese built Special from 1989. It was bought mid March 2013 in a rather dishevelled state, but its low price compensated for that. The shell has no gaping holes, but will definitely need rebuilding although that will have to wait until the Balkan trip is over. The chassis is one of Ken Hanna's and although it was clearly fitted some time ago remains in good condition. The engine was stripped and only needed new gaskets and seals, as the barrels and pistons had obviously been changed very recently, a replacement engine breather was also fitted. A new clutch and cable were slotted in before reassembly. The carb was stripped and cleaned, the brakes checked and the driver's seat rebuilt to give it some chance of keeping my generously proportioned frame off the floor. Tyres and exhaust were also in fine fettle, the steering lock was new, so a set of door barrels and a locking petrol cap and it was ready for an MOT.
